STOLEN x FORMICA - SONG OF THE LIQUID DANCING DRESS
This is one of the rare art projects we’ve taken on that still lives on in the form of a dress. And in this case, making it into a dress felt like the most honest way to express what we wanted to explore and break through.
At Stolen, we’ve always been drawn to projects that lie beyond the boundaries of fashion—creative journeys that invite us to explore and express in new, unexpected ways. The #beyondfenix project is one of those dream opportunities. Collaborating with Formica and the open-minded team at Super Structure was nothing short of joyful. Their trust allowed us to venture into something both expressive and mind-bending.

This conceptual dress titled - Song Of The Liquid Dancing Dress - is a collaboration between Formica and Stolen. Made entirely out of Formica’s FENIX material fused with fabric, Stolen’s design celebrates the spirit of innovation and the aesthetics of both strength and grace.
“I wanted to challenge the typical perception and use of FENIX by stretching this beautiful and strong material’s form and purpose. Looking beyond its rigid form, the design reimagines the material as having the qualities and movement of water, giving a semblance of what’s soft, delicate, and dynamic.”
Elyn Wong, founder and director of Stolen, continues “I have always been fascinated by how transformative water is. Liquid, solid, gaseous - each has its own personality and strength.”
This dress takes seemingly conflicting materials, and from this unexpected combination, beauty emerges. The dress expresses this duality of strength and flexibility, and the transformative potential of even the most unyielding substances.
Much like water itself,
and much like FENIX.
